| Abstract | The article discusses the development and reception of hermeneutics of Daoism in modern Chinese philosophy with Chung-ying Cheng's influence. It states that hermeneutic principles of interpretation gave new views in the interpretation of classical Chinese philosophical texts as strategies of reading ancient texts. Meanwhile, hermeneutical understanding in the Gadamerian sense aims at a fusion of horizons between the text and the reader. |
