[Original Tao (Book Review)]

This ground-breaking study of early Chinese Taoism from the Warring States to the early Han demonstrates that the literary corpus of early Taoism extends far beyond the Lao-tzu and the Chuang-tzu and argues that early Taoism possesses a vibrant sociological component. The book's interpretation of some practices are problematic, and it often presents an inappropriate characterization of Taoist inner cultivation, however.
