Tenure-Track Position at University of Alabama

The Department of Religious Studies at the University of Alabama invites applications to a tenure-track position in the area Religions of China (past and present). The preferred candidate will have the Ph.D. degree in hand or will be very close to completing the dissertation. We seek a scholar who studies historical or contemporary interactions among cultures in China with an emphasis on ritual and social practices, philosophy, or folklore and mythologies. Research and teaching in one or more of the following areas would complement and enhance current faculty interests and departmental offerings: Chinese religions and cultures; Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism; Christianity, Judaism, and Islam in China; Diaspora communities in and from China; the impact of communism on religions in China; art, literature, and religions in China. This list is suggestive, not exhaustive. In addition, the preferred candidate will contribute to the Department's offerings in the University's Core curriculum program. The Department of Religious Studies is comprised of six faculty members and offers both a B.A. major and minor in Religious Studies and a minor in Judaic Studies.
