指南宮是台灣廟宇裡面，少數維持道教正統法門，而不像民間信仰裡速成的乩身文化，在這種道家正修的法派，如今在台灣已日漸式微 (正統道士可非常清醒地直接和神格之神祗溝通，而不是民間信仰的被附身)。
