Chinese Daoist Salon, March 21‐27, 2010, Zhengzhou, Henan

Sponsored by entrepreneur Zhu Tieyu, the Chinese Daoist Salon will be launched in March 2010. Meant to promote Daoist studies and teachings and help establish Daoism as a significant contributor to global intellectual and philosophical developments, it is the first in a series of conferences, workshops, meetings, lectures, and debates on Daoist themes.

The inaugural meeting will bring together about fifty established academics and graduate students from all over the world. Its theme is the application of traditional Daoist thought to contemporary issues, for instance, how Daoist philosophy may open opportunities for spatial or non‐linear modes of thinking (e.g. applying yin‐yang paradigms), how it operates through inferential or allegorical knowledge construction, and how it playfully integrates humor and seriousness.

Participation is by invitation only. For more details contact a member of the organizational committee: Robin Wang (Loyola Marymount University, USA), Hans‐Georg Moeller (University College Cork, Ireland), and Franklin Perkins (DePaul University, USA).
